I have been working as a professional engineer for 6 years since graduating, but I did a year as an industrial placement as part of my course as well so I guess 7 years in total. But in a way I’ve been an engineer ever since I was a kid- I just didn’t know at the time that that’s what it was called! I had lego and mechano but my favourite thing of all to do in summer holidays was making marble runs all over my gran’s house with kitchen roll tubes, bits of cardboard and packaging, and miles of selotape…

I’ve been working in engineering for the last four and a half years, but as Abbie has said, you could say we’ve been engineers all our lives!
