It really depends on what stage you are in on your project, at least with the kinds of things I work on. So you work on some projects for months or even years, but you have certain deadlines and reviews and things that you have to get a certain amount of extra stuff done for. So like anyone with coursework deadlines, you always leave them til the last minute, don’t you. So then you have to work really hard right before your deadline to get it all done.

So normally, we are meant to work 37 hours a week and that’s flexible, so we can work any time from 7.30am to 6pm every day, as long as we do 37 hours in the week. So some people come in early and leave at 4 every day, and some people have a lie in and come in later and then work til 6. And Friday afternoons we are allowed to have off if we’ve done our hours already, which is awesome!

I’ve been working up to a big deadline recently though, so I’ve been working much longer hours like I said. But I get paid overtime, so it means I will get a massive paycheque at the end of this month which will be nice! So the last few weeks have been more like 45-50 hour weeks, which has been mental, but its only temporary so it’s ok!
